Founder’s Message
The idea to create EmpowerHer Estate Rwanda (EHER) was born out of what I witnessed in the real estate sector, the silent challenges that many women face in pursuing their professional dreams. As a graduate and practitioner in Estate Management and Valuation, I saw how the University of Rwanda produces capable graduates, yet when they enter the job market, many women struggle to find their place in an industry still largely dominated by men. Women’s capabilities are often overlooked or doubted. Some companies hesitate to hire women, send them to field sites, or assign them leadership roles. Many talented women end up leaving the profession entirely, shifting to unrelated businesses such as trading, not because they lack ability, but because they lack support and opportunity. It becomes even harder after marriage, as some employers assume women cannot balance family responsibilities with field or project work. These realities motivated me to build something that would remind women that they are capable, skilled, and strong enough to overcome any barrier. That’s how EmpowerHer Estate Rwanda (EHER) began, as a platform to empower, educate, and connect women and youth in the real estate and built environment sector. Our mission is to help them rediscover confidence, gain professional growth, and build a community that uplifts one another. At EHER, we believe that when women are empowered to lead, they not only transform their own lives, they also strengthen entire communities and shape the future of Rwanda’s real estate landscape.
